A. Requirements
What are the requirements to be able to use Nexia™ Home Intelligence remote management features?
The overall Nexia system requirements are:
- Active Broadband Internet Connection
- Local area network protected by a Firewall
- Home Router with at least one available port
- Computer with Internet Access (Mac or PC)
- A valid email address
B. Cell Phones
How do I know if my phone will work with this system?
Nexia mobile phone software is available for the following platforms:
- Apple iPhone / iPod Touch
- BlackBerry
- BlackBerry Bold
- BlackBerry Storm
- Java Compatible
- Java Compatible (AT&T)
- Windows Mobile 5
- Windows Mobile 6+
- Android
Do I need a data plan for my phone to work?
YES. A data plan with your service provider is required for your phone to access the internet and send and receive the data necessary to remotely monitor and control your Nexia system.
Do I need to pay to download the app (software) to my phone?
While the app itself is free, some cell phone service providers charge a fee for downloading data, while others don't. If you have an unlimited data plan, then most likely you will not have to pay to download the software to your phone. To know for sure, you'll need to check with your cell phone provider.
Do I need my cell phone to access and manage the lock?
NO. You can also use a computer connected to the internet to access and manage the lock or you can enter codes directly at the lock.
Can I view video from a Schlage Home Indoor Camera on my phone?
YES. If you have a compatible phone with a data plan, you will be able to view video from the Schlage Home Indoor Cameras set-up on your Nexia system.
Can I control a Z-wave thermostat from my phone?
YES. If you have a compatible phone with a data plan, and you have a Z-wave thermostat enrolled in your Nexia system, you can monitor temperature and change set points from your phone or from a computer connected to the internet.
